Spring has finally sprung in Berks County! I am ready for sunshine, warm days, and fresh styles for my wardrobe.
After studying the fashion magazines that have been filling my mailbox, I have come up with my picks for Spring 2017! They are not ground-breaking or overly-trendy, but they are classic picks that will freshen up your closet and not drain your bank account, because all of these items came from my local Goodwill Keystone Area stores.
Bell Sleeves – These unique sleeve accents on jackets (as seen here), dresses and blouses will add a fresh take on a classic style that has been around for a long time, but is enjoying a revival for 2017.
Blush – I have also seen this called Millennial Pink. Millennial Pink can range from a lighter shade of “Barbie” pink to salmon to the blush I am featuring here. I love this soft pastel and it will flatter a variety of skin tones. It is a great neutral and will coordinate with everything from navy to a rich chocolate brown. As for jewelry, Y-necklaces (a throw-back to the early 90s) and statement earrings (a perennial favorite) will be the perfect adornment. And denim (in all it shades and styles) is a must-have.
Green – everything! Pantone’s color of the year is “Greenery”. According to their website, “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.” Look for this on blouses, accessories and shoes. It will add a pop of freshness to your closet.
Rock & Roll Style – Do I even have to describe this look? It has been around since rock and roll was invented and you can easily mix and match pieces you already own with a faux leather jacket, moto boots and black accents. This jacket also features one of the other popular colors for Spring 2017, burgundy.
Pleated skirts and dresses – The neat folds and details of pleated skirts and dresses will add a formal yet modern feel to your wardrobe. Just like bell sleeves, the style has been around for a long time, but Spring 2017 has brought the look back into fashion and you will be able to find a variety of pleated styles for great prices.
